We are deeply passionate about what we do, to the extent that our team is always on the lookout for exciting new tools and experimental ideas to enhance our workflow. One such experiment involved our available team members. Each was assigned a random film quote, with the challenge to create a film poster that perfectly captured the essence of the assigned film using the quote. There were no limits, no rules, other than the necessity to incorporate the quote in some manner. This allowed us to explore the world of cinema in a unique and imaginative way.
Another caveat: they had only 30 minutes to complete the task. For the most part, the team employed Generative AI to create their posters. Oh, and Cam – he took the 'no rules' aspect of the brief to heart and created an album cover instead of a poster!
Let's start with Cameron's album cover, an ode to 1970s space rock - "Search Your Feelings."
Our next poster, produced by Jemima, "1.21 gigawatts! 1.21 gigawatts. Great Scott!"
Chercy, literally on her way out the door for her holiday, managed to sketch out a poster. Her poster takes a slight sidestep! As Cameron reminded me – I did say 'no rules'. Apparently, her cat Cosmo has a habit of trying to break in. "Chercy, I'm home!"
Stevie's poster experiment took some pretty interesting turns, much like the film itself. My favourite scene in the movie is the encounter between Inigo and the six-fingered man. "Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya! You killed my father! Prepare to die!"
Our Creative Director Michael went old school, sketching out several iterations of the movie 'Frankenstein'. I couldn't resist running a couple of his ideas through AI. "There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand."
Costas, the last of the available designers to take up the challenge, focused on a movie that began its life as a play by Tennessee Williams. "Whoever you are, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers."
As our poster challenge comes to a close, we're left inspired by the diverse and creative approaches each team member took. It's been a fascinating journey into the realms of cinema and design, fuelled by passion and imagination. For our next challenge, we propose diving into the world of literature. Each team member will select a classic novel and reimagine its cover, blending traditional and digital art techniques. This will not only celebrate the timeless stories but also showcase our team's versatility in bridging the old with the new.
